The Sims 4 Luxury Party Stuff Pack Review

Hey guys!

Another review to finally add to finish is the Sims 4 Luxury Party Stuff! Again, this is long overdue and thankfully this one is shorter than a game pack so hopefully this one will be clear and concise. I will say, regardless of design, there are some negatives towards this pack which will be said later on.

Hope you guys enjoy!

This is something new with Stuff Packs as they are no longer going to be $20, but now $10 in The Sims 4.  This stuff pack contains 41 CAS content, 2 Premium Content Objects ( 2 Buffet Tables, 1 Chocolate Fountain) and 9 other Build/Buy Content.  This totals to about 52 different items. One can only purchase this via Origin or Retail Sites as a Digital Download Only and there is no disc.

You know, The Sims 3 Stuff Packs were around $20 for about 60-80 items, so even though there is not much less for $10, which seems like a good deal, it does seem lacking with this Stuff Pack for $10.

However, what's special about this Stuff Pack is that it includes one premium content object (I mean lets be honest here, Buffet Tables were a Base Game staple in the previous Sims base game franchises) which adds some additional gameplay. So it kind of makes it even more worth getting considering The Sims 3 Store had premium content priced around 500 Simpoints (aka $5).

What I don't like about this stuff pack is that it's only focused on Adult/Teen/Elder Life Stages and there is NOTHING FOR CHILDREN. I mean seriously?!?! Not even a single flashy outfit for girls and boys? Don't get me wrong, but even children can wear luxurious stuff sometimes too right? I don't know, it was weird they were shafted from this stuff pack.

Other than that, I think it's great that they are going with Stuff Packs - Game Packs - Expansion Packs marketing as it gives the players a variety of what they want in their games. I consider the Game Packs the new Stuff Packs and the Stuff Packs as "Store Content" one should say. Other than that, I hope future Stuff Packs offer more and it seems like the creators are liking the idea of combo packs (Clothes and Objects) versus Build/Buy or CAS content released via The Sims 3 Store.

New Premium Gameplay Objects

This stuff pack introduces a Sims 3 Store item, the Fountain of Mirth (Chocolate Fountain) and instead of the limited options it had back then, there is much better gameplay and variety with this newly revamped item. Also included are two buffet tables *cough*should be in base game*cough* that are styled in a classical and luxurious themes.

The buffet table introduces 5 new food options, and the Fountain of Mirth introduces 7 new drinks and fondue.  Increasing a Sim's Cooking and Mixology Skills will unlock new recipes. Having certain Cooking levels can improve the drinks and fondue and having a certain Mischief level can add a "surprise" to said items. There are tons of interactions with these items and much more than their Sims 3 counterparts.

You can select what items you want to serve on the buffet table, or if you want to serve everything, that is an option also.

Graphic-wise, the fountain looks really odd and disgusting and I don't like the texture of the content of the fountain.

The following recipes are unlocked and each have their own level requirements.

  • Buffet Table
    • Roast Chicken (With Oven)
    • Vegetable Tempura (With Oven)
    • Almond Macaroons (With Oven)
    • Ceviche & Chips (With Oven)
    • Sausage & Peppers (With Outdoor Grill)
  • Fountain
    • Drinks
      • Fruit Punch
      • Sparkling Apple Juice
      • Futuristic Punch
      • Party Extender
    • Fondue
      • Chocolate
      • Chocolate Covered Strawberry
      • Cheese
      • Cheese Dipper
      • Caramel
      • Caramel Covered Apple

Build/Buy Content

There is so little content in Build/Buy that I was severely disappointed that this was all that was offered to make a Luxury Party, as the Stuff Pack states.  I feel like more items could have been added to fully flesh out a luxury party, but unfortunately we get a few objects that potentially will seem out of place in future releases.  As someone who enjoys build/buy content, I was not too happy about the lack of this part of the stuff pack.

Chiawowi Seat: $185
Description: Be you debutante, wall flower, or night beast, the Chiawowi Seat is a perfect temporary waypoint on which to plan your next move.
Comfort: 3

Uptight Stool: $330
Description: This club is for the fancy, the upper crust, the well known, and the it listers.  If they sit, and they don't, they do so on the Uptight Stool - a piece of furniture built exclusively to support the egos of those seated upon it.

The Parttoman: $200
Description: It was deemed the Ottoman seat was just not stylish enough.  Not refined enough.  Not PARTY enough.  Hence, the Parttoman, A slammin' good time, but also, an Ottoman.
Comfort: 1

Boom Cube: $210
Description: The Boom Cube is a perfect surface, or series of surfaces.  It is a cube after all.  Eat on it, but only if you're going to be daring.  And don't leave things on it! Such behavior demeans the Boom Cube.

Table Sequinas: $345
Description:  Not the typical table for dinner, or brunch, definitely not brunch, the Table Sequinas is a flashy surface that repels the boring and tedious types who go to sleep before midnight.

Shine Bar: $985
Description:  A cocktail that glows is one sure to delight the tummy and sparkle the evening with pizzazz and flash.  Mix a drink behind the Shine Bar and start the evening off rightly.

Pulse Panels: $325
Description:  Unhntz uhntz uhntz uhntz.  You hear it? You feel it? You see it? Alert your senses. The pulse Panels are pushing light onto the floor, but you gotta do the rest with your entire body.  FEEL IT.

Lux VIP Room: $8030

Whimsical Sectional: $4943

CAS Content

Included in this Stuff Pack for CAS are 41 different options to dress up your Teen/Adult/Elder Sims. The detail is fairly nice and well-done and there are a ton of options for mostly the females to wear, compared to the males.  Oddly enough there are not any pants to go with the tops for males, and not to mention it's quite dry and not the best-looking outfits to wear. I find them too flashy to wear and I wouldn't wear any of the outfits to any party in real life, but that's just me. Anyways, below are all of the CAS content included.

Female Teen/Adult/Elder (31 Objects)
4 Hairstyles
6 Accessories
9 Make Ups
2 Tops
2 Bottoms
5 Outfits
3 Shoes

Male Teen/Adult/Elder (10)
3 Hairstyles
2 Tops
3 Outfits
2 Shoes

Overall Review
6/10 - Honestly, you're better off getting this at a $5 price-point than getting it for the full price of $10.  There is so much lacking and while the detail and content is nice, it wasn't enough for me to say it was worth the $10.  This could have been utilized a little better and not all flash and bling.
